Receive a Leader Wellbeing: Effectiveness and Stress Report

This report provides insights into your leaders' general wellbeing and ministry wellbeing.

Part 1: General Wellbeing

General wellbeing refers to the leader's sense of wellbeing with life in general, beyond their assessment of wellbeing in relation to their ministry. These include personal health and satisfaction with aspects of life such as standard of living, relationships, and future security. This part investigates:

  • Satisfaction with life
  • Physical health & medication

Part 2: Ministry Wellbeing

Christian ministry can be intensely rewarding, with a sense that the ministry is effective and making a positive difference. It can also have significant challenges. Unlike in many vocations, a church leader's role and the expectations of those around them are often not clearly defined, they may have little or no control over the desired outcomes as expressed by those who employ them, and their personal life is continually under scrutiny as a model to others. At the time of the 2021 NCLS, the COVID-19 pandemic was an additional challenge faced by church leaders. This section of the report investigates:

  • Effectiveness and stress in ministry in recent months
  • Negative indicators of wellbeing

Receive a Leader Resilience: Personal Foundations Report

This report reveals how your leaders are rating their resilience and sustainability in ministry.

Ministry resilience can be thought of as a group of qualities that act as foundations for sustainability and wellbeing in ministry. There are many influences that impact on a leader and their wellbeing, both positively and negatively.

Six ministry resilience qualities, known as ‘personal foundations’, have been outlined by NCLS Research. These foundations help leaders to thrive in ministry when possible and survive well in the face of the challenges and stresses that may be encountered.  They are:

  • Spiritual foundations
  • Clarity of purpose
  • Sense of self
  • Integration
  • Supportive relationships
  • Balance and boundaries.
