Faith, connection and action form a hope trifecta

Insights from the Australian Community Survey

What helps Australians feel hopeful? Three things: faith, connection, and action. Our research found that people who practice their faith, feel connected to others, and believe they can make a difference report higher levels of hope

Faith plays a role. People who pray or attend religious services tend to report higher hope levels. But it’s not just about belief—it’s about belonging.

Connection matters too. In fact, 72% of Australians believe people can come together to make the world better. Nearly 40% feel they personally can make a difference.

Hope isn’t passive—it’s a movement. And it grows when we act together.
